Vaughn has taken its expertise in goal equipment and applied it to the all-new GX1 goal skate. The GX1 goal skate is ergonomically designed to meet the unique needs of a goaltender to achieve maximum performance and comfort.
At the base of the GX1 skate, a unique patent pending forward pitch boot allows the goaltender to be in an anatomically correct body position for the quickest movements around the crease. The forward pitch of the skate moves the top eyelets to better position for a goalie’s stance, allowing for more flexibility and wider stance. A wider toe cap gives superior fit to the front of the skate, keeping the foot more firmly seated in the foot bed for more control. The ankle area features tighter ankle pockets for a precision fit to allow the foot to stay properly positioned in the boot and prevent heel lifting.
A large tongue with an ultra-high density molded inner core and an orthopedic felt base is designed to spread lace pressure and provide cushioning against the instep. The boot is complimented by a pure carbon fiber outsole, designed to give maximum support to the boot and reduce fatigue-inducing flex. The boot is lasted and molded under heat, resulting in a precision fit that is less likely to deform over time.
The boot is set in Vaughn’s brand-new cowling, utilizing some features never before seen on a goal skate. The cowling has an angled inner edge to provide a secondary stopping point that allows the goalie to get a more aggressive angle to the ice. The cowling toe cap features a double-thick design for increased protection against hard shots. The cowling is also designed for full boot and foot protection, however has two trim lines, allowing the goaltender to reduce weight for those preferring less foot coverage. The cowling is complimented with a 4mm stainless lightweight runner.
